MARU is a non-profit registered society committed to the exploration of the intersections between Migration, Art & Race. MARU is Unlimited in its scope.

The name “MARU” has a variety of meanings & near-meanings. “MARU” means “circle” & has other related meanings such as “peace”, “people” or “community”.  MARU intends to explore these various meanings & intersections in its programs & projects.

MARU together with the University of British Columbia is currently engaged in conducting a study to document experiences of people living under heightened security practices in Canada.

Much of MARU’s work is carried out by volunteers under the supervision of MARU’s current director Zool Suleman.
